Past President of the Board of Directors of CASANYS

Lee Lounsbury has been a supporter of CASA’s work for many years. Lee describes her commitment to CASA as being rooted in the belief that there are many generous community members who want to help at-risk children but don’t always know where to start. CASA volunteers are an important part of the community that help ensure that children grow up in safe, loving and permanent families.  Because of turnover of the professionals in children’s lives, CASA volunteers often have the longest relationship with children, and we all know the difference that even one caring, committed adult can make in a child’s life. CASA makes a difference!

Lee earned her Bachelor of Social Work degree from SUNY Albany and Master’s degree in Public Administration from Russell Sage College. Her 45-year career has focused on improving the lives of vulnerable children and families. She has worked as a caseworker, supervisor and administrator in county and state government, including 26 years with the NYS Office of Children and Family Services. Lee has also worked in leadership positions with nonprofits, including the Council of Family and Child Caring Agencies, Welfare Research, Inc. and, most recently, Community Caregivers.  Lee has served on the boards of several nonprofit agencies and volunteered with Syrian refugee families resettling in the Albany area.

A lifelong resident of the Capital Region, Lee lives in Guilderland with her husband, Jack, who together have two adult children, Amanda and Nick.
