About the job:
CASA of New York State is a small, dynamic, mission-driven organization committed to providing training and technical support, marketing, and pass-through funding to 14 member programs statewide. CASANYS is seeking a strategic, passionate, performance-driven Development Consultant to join a collaborative, engaged, and growing team of individuals dedicated to children who deserve to thrive in safe, healthy, permanent homes. The Development Consultant shall have demonstrated experience appealing to high-net-worth individuals, foundations, and corporations driven to support children and families in their communities.
Work is remote with flexible hours, though business hours are preferred, and compensation is negotiable.
Responsibilities include:
• Generating and executing strategies to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward prospective and existing donors, corporate relationships and sponsorships
• Expanding and deepening the organization’s individual giving strategy, focused on building major gifts of $10,000 and above levels
• Identifying and pursuing new and renewed opportunities for funding from private foundations
• Assist in coordinating an annual benefit including hosting committee support, donor/sponsor outreach, and event planning
• Coordinating fundraising campaigns
• Assisting the Director of Marketing and Communications in developing collateral materials for campaigns and events
• Generating reports and analysis for agency, campaign, event, and board reporting
• Collaboratively work with the Board and Fund Development Committee
While the emphasis will be on development on behalf of CASANYS as the pass-through entity, it is important to note that relationship building and fundraising will benefit the entire network of 14 local programs serving 32 counties.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree and 5-7 years of related grant writing experience with foundation in corporate grant proposals, LOIs, and applications
• Demonstrated samples of successful fundraising events, campaigns, and appeals
• Proven strategies to develop relationships and cultivate major gifts
• Understanding of the CASA model and service in NYS
• Strong interest in the organization’s mission and advocacy on behalf of children

PROGRAM DIRECTOR:
General Description:
In a manner consistent with the mission and values of CASA of Rochester/ Monroe County, the Program Director is responsible for management of the program and all aspects of operations. The Program Director assures that children served by the program receive sound advocacy and early permanency planning, in accordance with the New York Statute, federal laws, and the policies of CASA of Rochester/ Monroe County. The Program Director seeks to gain community support for the program, soliciting input to improve the program.
Reports to: CASA Board of Directors
Position Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning:
With oversight by Board approval, identify program related goals, develop objectives, identifying resources needed from staff and consultants (grant writer, Fund development, CPA firm). Monitor reporting on this plan and related grants and contracts, reporting results to the Fiscal Agent.
Liaison
Act as the program liaison with the Board, Fiscal Agent, funders and grant principals. Represent the program to National CASA (NCASA), CASANYS. Solicit feedback and program response from Family Court Judges, Child Protective Services (CPS), community-based providers, and attorneys.
Oversees program implementation and planning:
Oversee daily operations of the program including direct report staff, advocates and cases.
Manage and supervise the staff team of Advocate Supervisors in accomplishing all initiatives. Work with staff to set performance goals in compliance with NCASA standards, grant/contract requirements, program policies and procedures and CASA Strategic Plan.
Ensure that program activities operate within the policies and procedures of the organization and are compliant with all relevant legislation and professional standards in addition to court rules and regulations and National CASA standards. Develop new initiatives that support the strategic direction of CASA, developing objectives.
Perform personnel tasks to define job descriptions, select staff, conduct annual evaluations and goal setting. Manage the time recording and payroll process.
Case Coordination:
Once volunteers are sworn in as Advocates, meet with Advocate Coordinator to select cases, monitoring caseloads of advocates and their supervisor. Work with Advocate Supervisors to identify pertinent advocacy issues. Ensure that program practices operate within CASA policies and procedures, including final edits of court reports and conducting case advocacy.
Provide supervision to a half-time caseload, identifying trends, systems issues and service gaps.
Assure case information is completely entered into Optima with assigned advocate information and case-related families, attorneys and related providers, tracking case assignments thru closure. Prepare reports for monitoring program outcomes for grantors, contracts, and Board.
Train advocates: Create or coordinate training opportunities to engage advocates and increase their knowledge of issues affecting CASA children, youth, and families. Create annual training calendar, surveying advocates and staff regarding needs. Partner with CASANYS and NCASA training staff to access materials, diversifying content.
Salary range $65,000-$75,000

Experience in volunteer management, competence in and commitment to the field of child welfare or child and family services. Knowledge of child abuse and neglect, advocacy, family dynamics, family court, and the social service system. Demonstrated commitment to cultural competency.

ADVOCATE COORDINATOR:
General Description:
In a manner consistent with the mission and values of CASA of Rochester/ Monroe County, the Advocate Coordinator recruits, trains, and supervises Advocates to provide sound advocacy in accordance with the New York Statute, federal laws, and the policies of CASA of Rochester/ Monroe County. The Advocate Coordinator is responsible for cultivating community outreach, targeted recruiting, and awareness of the CASA program. The position, in a Supervisor role, works with the assigned Advocate, the Department of Human Services, attorneys, and community providers caring for abused and neglected children.
Reports to: Program Director
Position Responsibilities:
Recruit/train advocates: Create and implement an Advocate Recruitment plan focused on further diversity and inclusion. Conduct interviews, screening and prepare training roster. Participates in pre-service and in-service training, including evaluation of trainees as requested by the Director.
Coordinate with Program Director to match cases with available advocates: Demonstrates knowledge of each assigned case history and pertinent advocacy issues. Work to reassign mismatched cases.
Supervises the Advocate’s involvement in their cases, while assuring that organization policies and sound case management practices are followed: Manages and supports up to 15 advocates and their cases through problem solving, guidance, evaluation, training, and preparation for court appearances. Provides direct supervision to CASA’s whose advocacy is inappropriate or detrimental. Maintains high level of confidentiality with respect to client and family information.
Represents the organization within the child welfare system including Family Court and the provider community through participation in advisory groups, committees, and public relations activities as assigned. Represents CASA in community outreach to recruit advocates from under-represented populations and to promote CASA awareness through a variety of methods i.e. presentations, private speaking engagements, fairs etc.
Engages in program implementation, evaluation, and planning: Participates in staff meetings, assuring accountability and quality. Provides input about program policy and compliance with National CASA standards. Contributes to grant planning activities and their implementation.
Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; and participating in CASA network.
Other duties as assigned by the Director.
Proposed wage of $23-24/hour.
