Children's Bureau Training and Technical Assistance Network
This resource summarizes information on National Resource Centers (NRCs) funded by the Children's Bureau, within the Administration for Children and Families (ACF), U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Each NRC provides onsite training and technical assistance to States, Tribes, and public child welfare agencies in the preparation and implementation of the Child and Family Services Review (CFSR) process. This resource is designed to communicate to States the focus of each NRC and the training and technical assistance each provides.

The Kids Count Data Center, an initiative of t-he Annie E. Casey Foundation, offers state- and city-level data for over 100 measures of child well-being, including all the measures regularly used in their KIDS COUNT Data Book and The Right Start for America's Newborns.

The Monitoring and Analysis Profiles (MAPS)
for 2006 (released by the Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) in September 2007). These are data packages that provide information on the major child welfare services provided by county Departments of Social Services (DSS). The MAPS reports for New York City, Upstate, and Statewide are available for download here as three separate PDF documents.

New York State Government Directories provide access to the central New York State Telephone Directory and individual agency directories, where available. Access is also provided to the directories of the NYS Senate and Assembly as well as local governments. Note that this page is not comprehensive and some agencies and officials may not be included.

The New York State Kids Well-Being Clearinghouse (KWIC) is a tool to gather, plot and monitor NYS children’s health, education and well-being indicator data using the Touchtones framework that was established by the Council on Children and Families.

National Data Archive on Child Abuse and Neglect (NDACAN) promotes scholarly exchange among researchers in the child maltreatment field. NDACAN acquires microdata from leading researchers and national data collection efforts and makes these datasets available to the research community for secondary analysis.

The Child Welfare Information Gateway provides this site for searching state statutes for issues related to child abuse and neglect, child welfare, and adoption. Results will provide summaries of state statutes (and full text of laws, in some cases).

Thomas - U.S. Congress on the Internet provides extensive links to member and committee information, legislative calendars and the Congressional Record. It also provides the capacity to search, either by Bill number or by subject, for the text and status of Bills.

The U.S. Census Bureau offers a treasure trove of statistics, many of which are user-friendly. Some of them are: New York Quick Facts, presenting an array of useful statistics – both statewide and county-by-county – on such topics as population, ethnicity, education, housing, and income; USA Counties providing statistics on a county level for such topics as age, agriculture, ancestry, banking, building permits, business patterns, crime, earnings, education, elections, employment, government, health, households, housing, income, labor force, manufactures, population, poverty, retail trade, social programs, veterans, vital statistics, water use, and wholesale trade; New York MapStats from FedStats presents information on the state, county, congressional district, and state and federal court district level; and last, but far from least, The Statistical Abstract of the United States.
